What’s Included?

Pre-cut Logs

Every Southland log home is engineered in our mill, not on your job site. Each log is pre-cut, numbered and notched, which can save you weeks of valuable construction time.

Kiln-dried Logs

Every Southland log home is placed in a high temperature Dry Kiln, which removes the water and moisture from the logs. This greatly reduces the opportunity for shrinking or settling.

Thicker Walls

Southland’s round logs are 8-inches thick, which provides 33% more wood than most log homes. This not only looks better, but also saves money in meeting energy code requirements

Pre-cut Log Beam System

We provide a real log beam system 24” on center between the first and second floors. It is factory notched into the sidewalls so there are no unattractive hangers to cover.

Full Log Gables

Wherever you have heated space we use full logs to maintain the energy efficiency of your log wall system. We use log siding only in the attic or by special request.

Porches

Your Southland Log Homes’ package comes with full porch posts and lintel supports for your roof system.

Porch and Deck Rail Options

If desired, custom-designed square full 2” x 2” pressure-treated line pickets, topped with 3”x 4” round top pine rails, create a massive handrail look for our log home packages.

Floors

All Southland log home packages come with tongue and grooved 1” x 6” unfinished knotty pine flooring for the first floor of your home. Garages and car ports are not included.

Exterior And Interior Wood Finish
Every Southland log home includes the best exterior and interior wood finish to protect your home and keep it beautiful for years to come.

Caulking

We provide special caulking with all Southland log homes to seal the joints on your home. nd we use a special “Southland Tan” color to match the logs.

Log Siding

Every Southland Log Homes’ package includes log siding to cover the girder sill plates and the roof dormers. This maintains the log look without having to make special foundation or roof adjustments.

Doors

All Southland doors come pre-hung, with low-E Argon filled glass panes with grids and are factory bored for your own locksets. We provide national name brands that are warranted for 10 years.

Windows

Southland’s wood windows come standard with 1” x 6” pine exterior trim, removable grills, and screens factory installed. They are low-E argon filled glass panes that provide excellent insulation. The insulated glass sash has a lifetime warranty. Upgrades to clad windows are available by request.

Freight

Because we kiln dry our logs, there is no hauling of water to your job site. The lower weight requires fewer trucks, and freight costs can sometimes be cut in half.

Foundations

Just like a conventional home, a Southland log home can be designed for a variety of foundation types, such as crawlspace, slab, basement or pilings.

Our log cabin kits are complete and include: 8" solid wide logs, complete first floor construction including pine flooring, all logs are numbered and pre-cut to fit, exterior windows & doors, interior stud walls, decking and railings for porches, complete roof structure including 30 year shingles, engineered stamped plans ready for building permit (a $4,000 value) and more.
